Frank Luntz, Mick Mulvaney Tackle Lack of Congress’ Education on Power of America’s Family Businesses in New Family Enterprise USA Video/Audio Podcast

Expert Pollster Luntz, Former Interim White House Chief of Staff Mulvaney, and Host Pat Soldano Discuss What Takes to Get Legislators to Support Family Business

Though many Capitol Hill legislators come from successful, multi-generational family businesses, it seems few recognize the overwhelming power of this group, but with new messaging and “top down” focus that may change, according to a conversation in a new video/audio podcast between well-known pollster and communications analyst Dr. Frank Luntz and Mick Mulvaney, former Director of Office of Management and Budget and former Interim White House Chief of Staff.

The just released video and audio podcast, entitled “Conversations on Family Business,” sponsored by Family Enterprise USA, is hosted by Pat Soldano, President, Family Enterprise USA. The podcast takes an inside view of how to reach and educate Congress on the strength of family business in this country.

In the podcast, these three political experts debate how legislators, voters, and family businesses can best create a new understanding of family businesses.

“It takes anger and agitation to drive change and it takes enormous amount of energy to drive it,” says Luntz in the podcast.  “A lot of it comes down to messaging and communication,” he adds. “The amount of communication and messaging shift from calling the Estate Tax the Death Tax is one good example, we need more communication like this to reach legislators.”

In the conversation, Mulvaney believes the White House can drive change most effectively.

“If the President, no matter what party, leans into an issue, it tends to get done,” says Mulvaney. “The change has to be driven from the top down.”

“I am always astounded at how little Congress knows about the basics of family business and the magnitude of family businesses in this country,” says Pat Soldano in the podcast. “With the new Congressional Family Business Caucus, we hope the education process will speed up with our legislators,” Soldano offers. “Perhaps with this kind of authentic dialogue helps us all understand the need for positive support and legislation,” she said.
