New Family Business Video Series, “Unsung Heroes,” Launches with Episode on Local Community Giving as Core Value of Multi-Generation Family Businesses

Video Series Sponsored by Family Enterprise USA Tackles Struggles and Triumphs Family Businesses Face Daily, including Hurtful Policies, Taxes, and Succession

The importance of community is the focus of the first video in a new video series, “Unsung Heroes: Struggles and Triumphs of Family Businesses,” presented by Family Enterprise USA.

The video series tackles critical subject areas affecting America’s largest employer, family businesses, and is hosted by Pat Soldano, President, Family Enterprise USA and Policy and Taxation Group.

The first video, titled, “Helping the Community,” features a half-dozen family business owners and their personal views on the importance of their communities to their business success, and community success.

Future videos in the series tackle such subjects as the environment, taxes, the estate tax, barriers to success, employees, and workforce development, among just a few.

“We’re excited by this new video series and the topics it tackles,” said Soldano. “Research shows the survival of America’s local charities is tied directly to the success of the country’s family businesses,” she said. “And by engaging with the community family businesses also become stronger. Our local charities pay the ultimate price when family enterprises are driven out of business.”

It is estimated that when it comes to charitable giving family businesses give 76 percent of their charitable contributions to local charities, according to recent research conducted by Family Enterprise USA. Family Enterprise USA, based here, is a non-profit, bi-partisan group representing family business.

The series is based on over 16 interviews with family business leaders from across the country and across a wide range of industries, from real estate to roofing and forestry to chemicals.

The need for fact-based reporting of issues important to multi generational businesses and protecting a lifetime of savings has never been greater. Now more than ever, multi generational businesses and family businesses are under fire. That's why Family Enterprise USA is passionately working to increase the awareness of issues important to generationally-owned family businesses built on hard work, while continuing to strengthen our presence on Capitol Hill. The issues we fight for or against with Congress in Washington DC include high income tax rates, possible elimination of valuation discounts, increase in capital gains tax, enactment of a wealth tax, and the continued burden of the gift tax, estate tax and generation skipping tax.

Family Enterprise USA promotes generationally owned family business creation, growth, viability, and sustainability by advocating for family businesses and their lifetime of savings with Congress in Washington DC.  Since 2007, Family Enterprise USA has represented and celebrated all sizes, professions and industries of family-owned enterprises and multi-generational employers.
