Treasury Department Says Over 53 Million Filers Claimed OBBBA Provisions: On Tax Day, the Treasury Department released data on the four new “no tax” deductions under the OBBBA and the volume of taxpayers claiming them during the 2026 filing season, showing that over 53 million filers claimed at least one of the provisions. The average overall refund hit $3,400 per return, which is an 11% increase from the prior year.
