Many members of Congress do not believe that family businesses are sold to pay the estate tax or suffer economically.

Family members suffer, employees lose jobs, and the local community loses the charitable giving from the business. Read the story of Anthony Timberlands and let your Congressman know this is REAL AND TRUE! Share this story with others and if you have a story that we can share with members of Congress, please send it to us!!

As told from John Ed Anthony:

After paying estate tax for 3 generations, I’ve lost confidence in our legislators ability to help family businesses and eliminate the estate tax, and as a result have hired the lawyers and paid the fees to come up with a strategy to accomplish the goal to help our company survive. Perhaps my son and grandson can carry it on for a while.

My affairs are now so complicated and set up with so many trusts and gifting arrangements that I no longer run the 117-year-old company. It is now run by  a team of young lawyers who know nothing of the forest products industry, the companies, 1000+ employees or the small communities where our mills operate, but only about how to play the regulation game with the IRS.  The America we once knew is no more and its demise appears imminent.”
