Congressional Family Business Caucus Members Meeting Set March 17; Affordability Strategies, New Family-Owned Business Concerns Revealed
Newest Research on Issues Affecting Family-Owned Businesses to Be Unveiled during the Family Enterprise USA-Hosted Capitol Hill Event
Members of the bipartisan Congressional Family Business Caucus are set to meet on Capitol Hill March 17 to discuss affordability strategies and to see new research on the top tax and economic concerns affecting family-owned businesses.
The March meeting, the first of three this year, will have members of the Congressional Family Business Caucus join with leaders from family-owned businesses, and other family business experts, in the Capitol Building’s Visitor Center.
The meeting’s theme is: “Pricing and Profits: Affordability Strategies for Family-Owned Businesses.”
The meeting will feature presentations from Family Enterprise USA, family businesses, legislative and tax experts, and members of Congress. In the afternoon, attendees will meet with their House Members and staff in House Members’ offices.
In addition, meeting organizers, Family Enterprise USA, will unveil early results of its 2026 Family Enterprise USA Annual Family-Owned Business Survey. The complete results will be available in April.
The annual survey is the most exhaustive annual survey of America’s family-owned businesses and their top issues of concern.
Each year, the survey polls over 500 family-owned business leaders on subjects ranging from ownership levels, generations involved in the business, jobs lost or gained, revenue growth, salary and benefits, cyber risks, and top tax and economic policy concerns. The survey is sponsored by EY Family Enterprise Center.
According to research, America’s family-owned businesses contribute $7.7 trillion annually to the U.S. gross domestic product, accounting for 83.3 million jobs, or 59 percent of the country’s private workforce.
Getting Family Business Voice Heard
The meeting of members of the Congressional Family Business kicks off with a panel discussion of family business owners on affordability strategies. The panel discussion is led by Pat Soldano, President, Family Enterprise USA, and John Gugliada, Director of Engagement for both Family Enterprise USA.
In addition to new research, attendees will hear legislative and political updates by the law and government affairs firm Brownstein and a “What Now” presentation by communications expert and political analyst Dr. Frank Luntz.
In the past, House members attending, or who have co-chaired the Caucus, have included Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY), Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA), Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-TX), Reps. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN), Carol Miller (R-WV), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Stacey Plaskett (D-VI), Brad Schneider, (D-IL), Brad Sherman, (D-CA), Rep., and Pete Stauber (R-MN).
“Meetings with the members of the Congressional Family Business Caucus is the perfect forum for our representatives to know exactly what’s on the mind of the most powerful economic engine in the country, America’s family-owned businesses,” said Soldano. “Our annual survey guides us each year on what to focus on when we communicate with lawmakers on Capitol Hill,” she said. “The one-on-one meetings between family business leaders and our lawmakers are the best way to get our voices heard on Capitol Hill.”
