New Coalition of Women Business Owners Empowers Women Entrepreneurs, Engages Directly with Congress
In a recent meeting in Washington, D.C., with Congressional Family Business Caucus members, the topic of women in family-owned businesses, and women owners of businesses, was center stage.
Part of the Capitol Hill discussion keyed on how women business owners can be championed and promoted in new ways, and how they can engage directly with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Prior to this meeting, and as an extension of this discussion, a new organization was formed dedicated to helping women business owners. This new coalition is called The Family Enterprise USA Women’s Business Owners Group (The Group).
If you are not aware, women-owned businesses are a powerful engine in our economy. The statistics, according to a recent Wells Fargo women-owned businesses study, are impressive.
The Wells Fargo study shows that women-owned business account for 40% of all U.S enterprises and generate $2.7 trillion in revenue annually.
The study also showed that women-owned businesses employ over 12.2 million people across the country.
This new coalition of women business owners is dedicated to highlighting and addressing the challenges faced by women-owned businesses in today’s economy.
The Group’s mission is to amplify the voices of women entrepreneurs, foster collaboration, and advocate for policies that promote equity in business, and to do this directly with Members of Congress in Washington, D.C.
The Group is committed to hearing and elevating the concerns of successful women entrepreneurs and is specifically designed to work with the Congressional Family Business Caucus to advise on legislation that will help women-owned businesses, and all family businesses.
In addition, The Group’s mission is to foster collaboration, advocate for equity in business, and to educate our lawmakers in Congress on the strength of women-owned businesses. Its long-term goal is to remove policies that create barriers to women-owned businesses, whether taxation, red-tape, or regulations.
The Group will be comprised of women business owners who are passionate about sharing their experiences, challenges, and successes in entrepreneurship and working with stakeholders to create actionable solutions.
The Group will engage directly with members of Congress, including those members in the Congressional Family Business Caucus, to highlight the important role of women-owned businesses to the U.S. economy and discuss women-owned businesses in the context of broader family-owned business issues.
By uniting women business owners, we hope to create a supportive organization that empowers women to thrive and succeed in their entrepreneurial journeys.
