The two generationally-owned<\/a> family business executives discuss finding skilled workers, the cumulative burden of taxation, and how state and federal lawmakers can help.<\/p>\n In the Holt video, Monroe<\/a>, President of multi-family-owned Caterpillar Dealer, with its<\/p>\n 800-employees, talks with Soldano about how Holt manages a business owned by three separate families, the difficulty in finding and developing skilled technicians, and how legislators on Capitol Hill need to assist with new training tax credits.<\/p>\n \u201cWith three families owning Holt, we have a unique set of management issues,\u201d said Monroe about the 90-year-old, fourth generation-managed company<\/a>. \u201cOur biggest issue today is finding qualified technicians, no question about it. Hancock has 730 employees in retail, forest services, and mills throughout Maine and New Hampshire.<\/p>\n \u201cAny company is only as good as the sum of its people,\u201d said Hancock. \u201cWe work very hard to empower our employees, and to make sure their work is meaningful,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cAs a result, we don\u2019t have a lot of workforce issues.
